Boutique journeys through hidden tastes and quiet wonders.

Snow-covered forest at sunrise in Slovenia
Winter brings a quieter rhythm to Slovenia’s forests, towns and Alpine valleys.

December to March · 5 days / 4 nights · Private winter journey

Winter Wonders of Slovenia

Ljubljana lights, warming local food and quiet Alpine landscapes—designed for winter rather than merely transferred into it.

This private winter tour combines Ljubljana with Gorenjska, Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj and smaller Alpine towns. The programme is built around shorter days, seasonal opening times and changing snow conditions. Instead of promising fixed snow, we prepare a primary plan and excellent alternatives: snowy walks when conditions allow, lakeside and valley walks when they do not, plus more time for food, culture and local hosts.

Day-by-day winter itinerary

Day 1 — Winter welcome in Ljubljana

Arrive in Ljubljana and settle into a centrally located hotel. Meet your host for an easy old-town walk beside the river, with warm stops for local flavours. In December, festive lights and markets add atmosphere; later in winter the city feels calmer and more local. End with a welcome dinner and a weather briefing for the Alpine days.

Day 2 — Ljubljana culture and winter tastes

Explore the market, Plečnik’s architecture, the castle area and selected indoor cultural sites. A food-focused lunch introduces winter dishes and Slovenian ingredients. The afternoon remains flexible for a museum, artisan visit, Tivoli walk or independent time. The goal is depth, not a checklist.

Day 3 — Radovljica and Lake Bled

Travel north to Gorenjska. Visit Radovljica’s historic centre and enjoy a seasonal tasting before continuing to Lake Bled. Walk part of the shore, choose Bled Castle or a panoramic viewpoint when paths are safe, and enjoy the softer light and quieter atmosphere of winter. Continue to your Gorenjska hotel for two nights.

Day 4 — Bohinj, Pokljuka and snow alternatives

Head into the Bohinj valley and Triglav National Park. Depending on conditions, the day includes a prepared winter walk near the lake, a snowshoe outing with suitable equipment, or a scenic valley and village route. Pokljuka can be added when road and snow conditions are safe. Warm up over a regional lunch and learn how Alpine communities adapt to the season.

Day 5 — Škofja Loka and farewell

Return toward Ljubljana through Škofja Loka. Its medieval streets, castle hill and cafés are especially atmospheric outside the main season. Enjoy a final lunch and review the stories, tastes and places of the journey. Transfer to Ljubljana or the airport can be arranged according to departure time.
