Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 — Welcome to Kranj

Meet your local host and settle into Hotel Creina. We begin with a relaxed walk through Kranj’s old town, dramatically set above the confluence of the Sava and Kokra rivers. Depending on arrival time, explore the medieval streets, the canyon below the town and one of Kranj’s underground tunnels. The day ends with a welcome dinner built around seasonal Gorenjska flavours and a short briefing for the days ahead.

Day 2 — Škofja Loka and the Poljane countryside

Travel to Škofja Loka, one of Slovenia’s best-preserved medieval towns. Walk from the old stone bridge to Mestni trg, hear stories of guilds, bishops and travelling merchants, and visit the castle gardens or museum. After lunch, continue into the Poljane valley for a gentle country walk and a meeting with a local producer when available. Return to Kranj in the late afternoon.

Day 3 — Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj

See two different faces of the Slovenian Alps in one carefully paced day. Start at Lake Bled before the busiest hours, with time for a lakeside walk, a viewpoint or Bled Castle. Continue through traditional villages to Lake Bohinj in Triglav National Park. Enjoy a regional lunch, walk along the quieter shoreline and, if conditions suit, visit the Savica waterfall area or ride the Vogel cable car. The exact route adapts to season and weather.

The Julian Alps shape both the landscape and the rhythm of life in Gorenjska.

Day 4 — Kamnik, Kamniška Bistrica and optional Velika Planina

Begin in Kamnik, a compact historic town beneath the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. Continue into Kamniška Bistrica for an easy walk beside clear mountain water and lunch in the valley. Guests may add a cable-car and chairlift excursion to Velika Planina when operating and weather allows. Its high plateau, herders’ huts and open views are among Slovenia’s most distinctive cultural landscapes. The standard programme remains enjoyable without the extension.

Day 5 — Jezersko and farewell

Finish in the mountain valley of Jezersko, close to the Austrian border. Walk around Planšarsko jezero, learn how the valley’s farms and landscape developed, and enjoy a final regional lunch. If departure timing is earlier, Preddvor and Brdo estate provide a shorter alternative close to Kranj. Private onward transfer can be arranged to Ljubljana or the airport.
