Ljubljana & Gorenjska Self-Guided Journey
Your own pace, our local planning: hotels, transfers, reservations, a detailed roadbook and on-trip support across Ljubljana and the Slovenian Alps.
This self-guided Slovenia holiday follows the same thoughtful geography as our private guided journey, but without a guide travelling with you. We arrange the moving parts and give you clear local knowledge, while you decide when to pause, where to linger and how active each day should be. It is ideal for independent travellers who want a reliable plan, personal recommendations and support without joining a group.

Your five-day self-guided itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival and Ljubljana orientation
Check into your central Ljubljana hotel and receive your roadbook, maps, restaurant recommendations and practical briefing. Follow an easy introductory walk along the Ljubljanica, through the old town and across Plečnik’s bridges. A pre-booked welcome tasting introduces Slovenian flavours without fixing the rest of your evening.
Day 2 — Ljubljana at your own pace
Use our curated city route to visit the central market, castle hill, riverside architecture and Tivoli Park. The roadbook includes a short and long version, rainy-day alternatives and independent restaurant choices. Selected admission or a local food experience is reserved in advance, while the rest of the day remains yours.
Day 3 — Transfer north, Radovljica and Lake Bled
Your luggage is transferred as you travel to Gorenjska using the confirmed private transfer or public-transport plan. Pause in Radovljica for its old town and a pre-booked tasting, then continue to Lake Bled. Choose the full lake circuit, castle visit or panoramic viewpoint according to energy and weather. Check into your Alpine hotel for two nights.

Day 4 — Lake Bohinj and the quieter Alps
Travel to Lake Bohinj using your pre-arranged local transport plan. The roadbook offers a lakeside route, a village-and-food route and seasonal add-ons such as the Savica waterfall area or Vogel cable car. In winter or poor weather, use the valley alternative with shorter walks and welcoming indoor stops. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 5 — A final Gorenjska morning and departure
Choose a final short walk or café stop before your arranged transfer to Ljubljana or Ljubljana Airport. If departure is later, add Škofja Loka or Kranj as an optional extension. Your digital materials remain available after the trip for future reference.
